This project begins with a day spent drawing a model staged with furniture, plants, light stands and other props. Students have objects between them and the model and to all sides of the model. This provides an interior space with items in the foreground, middle ground and background. They are encouraged to exaggerate the scale shift of these items in space. With a reed pen and walnut ink they create studies as the set is periodically changed. The following day they will use the studies to create a composition playing with scale, space and imagination. They are invited to exaggerate and embellish. Finally they choose 3-5 colors to use in their composition.
